Build Guide — Stock to Savage

Stage 1 — Start Here (Core)

Add up to +70 HP with nothing more than the Stage 1 ECU Tune — no hardware modifications required. Engineered for maximum gains on 91 or 93 octane. Pair with an intake for improved airflow and an aggressive turbo sound. If your GTI has a DSG transmission, add the iE DSG Tune to unlock full engine torque, enable the 7,000 RPM limit, and transform how the car shifts and delivers power.

Stage 2 — Turn It Up (Pro or Apex)

To safely maximize the stock IS20 turbo, add an intake, intercooler, and downpipe. Reflashing to Stage 2 boosts output to 394 HP with consistent power across the powerband. Pair with a catback exhaust to fully enjoy adjustable crackles.

Bigger Turbo — Go All Out (Apex)

Step up to a larger turbo for serious power. Adding the factory Golf R IS38 turbo and Map Pack delivers up to 409 HP with stronger mid-range pull. For maximum performance, upgrade to the Garrett GT2260S turbo with HPFP Upgrade and Stage 3 Map Pack for up to 462 HP and true no-limits acceleration.
