ECS Tuning - MK5 2.5L Lightweight Single Mass Flywheel - ES#4759618
Like many Volkswagens, manual transmission-equipped MK5s came from the factory with dual-mass flywheels. While this design delivers excellent comfort, smooth gear changes, and minimal vibration, it also adds significant weight—tipping the scales at a hefty 23 lbs. For performance-oriented enthusiasts, the dual-mass flywheel is a hindrance, dulling engine response and overall driving engagement.
With this flaw in mind, we set out to design a lightweight, performance-minded single-mass flywheel for 07K-equipped MK5s! Our precision-engineered upgrade weighs in at only 16.4 lbs.—a substantial weight reduction of 29%! This reduction translates to a dramatic improvement in throttle response and engine pep, allowing you to extract even more driving pleasure from your VW.
While many single-mass flywheels introduce intrusive NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), our extensive testing confirms minimal to no increase in noise when installed, delivering upon the performance benefits listed above without sacrificing comfort. Each flywheel is precision-machined from heat-treated 4140 chromoly steel and hardened to HRC 28–32 to ensure toughness, dimensional stability under heat, and consistent wear across the entire friction surface. A black zinc coating adds corrosion resistance to all non-friction surfaces, and precise dynamic balancing exceeds OEM G16 spec (175 g-mm). This ensures smooth operation at any RPM, providing peace of mind and optimum reliability. SFI 1.1 certified, this flywheel meets stringent safety standards, having passed independent lab testing at 1.5x engine redline for one hour without failure. Finally, an integrated tone ring with OEM-matched gear tooth profile ensures flawless operation with factory electronics, making this an uncompromising upgrade for drivers seeking performance, reliability, and peace of mind.
NOTE: Our MK5 Single-Mass Flywheel Conversion is specifically designed for compatibility with stock-architecture MK6 2.5L clutch kits (07K141015D). It cannot be used with a stock-architecture MK5 2.5L clutch kit (03L141015P).

We update our catalog daily to provide the most accurate fitment information possible. When shopping for parts, please use the “select your vehicle” car selector on the home page. Once you've selected your car, you can filter parts specific to it.
Additionally, on each product page, we have a tab for fitment information. By clicking on "Fitment", you can scroll and verify the part you are about to add to your cart indeed fits.
Furthermore, if you have a vehicle added to our vehicle selector and you are viewing a product page, you'll see fitment information below the "add to cart" button. If an item fits your car it will display "This Part Fits Your: Selected Vehicule". If an item does not fit your vehicle a message will display "This Part Does Not Fit".
A “Core Charge” is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda. In many states, to promote recycling, you are charged a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and you receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have Core Charges that work the same way as a soda can deposit. The most common car parts that include a core charge are alternators, calipers, steering racks, and fuel injectors.
"MAP" pricing, or Minimum Advertised Pricing, means that the vendor set a minimum retail price that we're not allowed to violate. MAP items cannot be discounted because the decrease in price would violate that threshold.
